Forgot your Apple ID password or got locked out? This step-by-step guide covers every official method to reset your Apple ID password and regain access to your iCloud account, App Store purchases, and Apple services. Works even if you cannot access your trusted devices or email.
Go to iforgot.apple.com in any browser. Enter your Apple ID email address. Choose to reset by email or security questions. Follow the prompts to create a new password. This is the fastest method if you have access to your recovery email.
On iPhone or iPad, go to Settings, tap your name, then Password & Security, then Change Password. On Mac, go to System Settings, Apple ID, Password & Security, Change Password. You will need your device passcode to complete the reset.
If you set up a recovery contact, ask them to generate a recovery code for you. If you have no recovery options available, start Apple's Account Recovery process at iforgot.apple.com — this takes 24 to 72 hours while Apple verifies your identity. You can also contact Apple Support directly at 1-800-275-2273.
While waiting for account recovery, your photos, messages, and iCloud data remain safe. Nothing is deleted during the password reset process. If you need immediate access to files stored in iCloud, SafeRestore can help you extract data from local iTunes or Finder backups on your computer.
